Current Positions
Social Worker for Article 28/ Ambulatory Clinic/ Women's Health Center, Queens
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), preferred • Must have prior experience in Women’s Health/Mental Health • Caseload experience and management of staff • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review and discuss patients’ medical history - alerting the staff at the O.R. desk to problems. 2. Explain procedure, post-operative instructions, and potential risks/complications with patients. 3. Determine patient’s security with her decision and that alternatives have been explored with patients. 4. Must be clinically current and be able to educate patients on birth control options. 5. Review consent form with patient and have patient sign Informed Consent Form. 6. Refer patient to outside agency when the need arises. 7. Prepare patient chart and place in appropriate pick up locations. .8. Accompany patient during procedure and/or meet patient in Recovery Room when indicated. 9. Give pregnancy test results from sonogram to patient. 10. Facilitate patient’s movements through the clinic. 11. Insure chart accuracy, especially. 12. To be able to utilize stress and anxiety reducing interventions to reduce patient’s anxiety. 13. To facilitate hospital referrals when terminations are not able to be conducted at Clinic. 14. To provide empathy and empower patients. 15. To utilize brief assessment skills when engaging with patients. 16. To utilize crisis management skills when the need arises. 17. To conduct psychosocial assessments with prenatal patients upon initial visit and as needed. 18. To document the social work session on a social work progress note in a clear and concise manner upon meeting with patient. 19. To be able to document medical necessity and indicate appropriate interventions provided on social work documentation. 20.
